OMA Releases Results of LwM2M TestFest and Opens Next TestFest Registration

San Diego, CA – February 23, 2016 – The Open Mobile Alliance (OMA) today announced that results of the January 2016 OMA Lightweight M2M (LwM2M) TestFest held in San Diego, California are now available to the public online on the OMA GitHub page (PDF). In addition, due to the popularity of the event, OMA will be sponsoring an additional TestFest May 2-5 in Edinburgh, Scotland.

During the January 2016 OMA TestFest event, 17 companies tested 10 clients and 13 servers using the LwM2M protocol. Companies testing their pre-commercial implementations included Alcatel-Lucent (a Nokia Corporation Company), Altiux Innovations Pvt Ltd, ARM Limited, AVSystem, Gemalto, HOP Ubiquitous, Imagination Technologies Ltd, InterDigital Inc, Lochbridge, and Sierra Wireless.

Lightweight M2M (LwM2M) is a device management protocol designed for sensor networks and the demands of a machine-to-machine (M2M) environment. With LwM2M, OMA has responded to demand in the market, understanding that a common standard for managing lightweight and low power devices on a variety of networks is necessary to realize the potential of IoT.  The TestFest was the third event sponsored by OMA allowing companies to test their LwM2M clients and servers. Results of the TestFest event are available online at: https://github.com/OpenMobileAlliance/OMA-LwM2M-Public-Review/wiki/2016-January-TestFest-Results.

“OMA provides TestFest events which are held in a comfortable, confidential and secure testing environment, where we can bring implementations to test in multiple multi-vendor combinations,” said Antonio Jara, Founder and CEO of HOP Ubiquitous. “As a result of these events, we are able to confirm interoperability across vendors which is an important step towards product launch.”

Following on from this successful TestFest, OMA will host a TestFest for any company who would like to test their OMA-based client or server implementation May 2-5 in Edinburgh, Scotland at The Royal Society of Edinburgh Conference Center.  This event is open to both OMA Members and non-members.  Test cases will be available for OMA Lightweight M2M and other OMA Enablers upon request.  For more information and to register see: http://openmobilealliance.org/event/oma-testfest-event-may-2016/.
